Our Pet Surgery Protocol
We like to examine all patients before the day of their surgery to get a full history. One of our vets will examine your pet from nose to tail, and answer any questions you may have. During this visit, we will also obtain a blood sample to send to the lab for more thorough testing to ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia. We ask that you take away your pet’s food approximately 12 hours prior to dropping them off at our clinic in the morning.
Immediately following their procedure, we will call to let you know how they’re doing, and set a pick-up time for the afternoon or evening. Don’t be surprised if your four-legged friend walks out with you as awake as when they came in—our isoflurane inhalant anesthetic is effective, but wears off quickly. We also include pain injections that alleviate discomfort without causing grogginess.
Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority at all times. To learn more about our surgical services or to request an appointment, please call us at (248) 471-3636.
